What’s In Store

29 Apr

Following orders placed at Vision Expo East, North America’s preeminent eyewear exhibition,  new models are arriving at our Josepshon Opticians’ locations throughout Toronto. Here is a sampling of prevailing trends and what’s in store:

Robert Marc’s titanium rims, hand made in Japan

Thinly tooled metals, such as this offering from Robert Marc featuring acetate insert rims and flat based lenses, are indicative of  a trend towards  refinement.

Engraved metal rim with acetate inserts, made in France by Harry Lary’s

Subtle details, such as an uniquely shaped  eye-wire and mottled colouring, imbue understated styles with character.  A new selection from Harry Lary’s  incorporate these elements successfully.

An example of exclusive colourings offered by Sama Eyewear

Styles incorporating  thinly crafted acetate fronts paired with metal temples dominate many collections.  This elegant model from Sama Eyewear features matte finishes on both materials.

Fanciful colour pairings from Face à Face

Shinny gold and silver coloured metal accents complement many new models by Face  à Face.  This example also features neutral shades of the pinks, taupes and greys favored by many designers currently.

Depth and dimension enhanced by Barton Perreira

The creative combination of materials on a single frame- varying in degrees of thickness, translucence and polish- can produce a form likened to sculpture. This exceptional example produced by Barton Perreira is featured in the collections  now available through our Flagship and Brookflield Place locations.

Relaxed and Refined

22 Apr

Robert Marc’s latest offerings are imbued with the serene and relaxed attitude associated with the Mediterranean resort destination Saint-Tropez.  The Spring Collection materials and colours are an extension of  the location’s elegant and intuitive sense of luxurious style.

Tortoise Vert

Chagall inspired floral tortoise fronts  in translucent greens, blues and  purples are paired with solid coloured acetate temples featureing the designer’s unique and distinctive signature hinge.

These Chic and charming styles are also timeless and refined. They are as suitable for the contemporary you as they would have been for the 1950’s era Brigitte Bardot.

The full compliment of Robert Marc’s Spring Collection will be featured during a trunk show at Josephson Opticians’ Flagship location Saturday May 13th.

The arrival of our new selection of frames from Gold & Wood Eyepieces was eagerly anticipated although we realized  that, as the adage suggests, “good things take time”. Each pair is patiently handcrafted in Luxembourg with meticulous care and attention to detail.

With a regard for traditions and heritage, models are often named after established institutions and sites. The model depicted above is the namesake of  the village of Orsay in northern France which was established in the year 999.

This style combines delicacy and strength in perfect balance. The titanium front is carefully machined to accommodate the aluminum décor.

Luxurious new wooden models incorporating  fine exterior layers of blue and fuchsia patterned silk are available through our Flagship location.

Hard woods, valued for their finer grains and durability, are harvested only from mature trees in a sustainable fashion.  Stained electric blue and burgundy, veneers are laminated to layers of aluminum and other exotic woods such as Tanganika to form a truly extraordinary object.

We invite you to appreciate the variety of unique and distinct Gold & Wood Eyepieces at Josephson Opticians’ Humbertown Centre and Flagship locations.
