The Thin White Duke  is pictured above in a frame that’s lean.  To varying degrees, the styles shown below also support the adage ‘less is more’.   They are designed by Willems Wonderglasses, Robert Marc and Phillip Lim.

‘Colonel’ Harland David Sanders’ iconic style can be emulated by dawning a stark white suite , string tie and browline glasses.  Hand-crafted variations of that classic frame construction, produced by Chrome Hearts, Thom Browne and Lunor, are pictured below.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”
Albert Einstein

Visionary

Canadian auteur David Cronenberg is a valued and loyal client. One of his more recent purchases was of a frame by Berlin based Mykita. The ‘Hans’ is elegant by virtue of it’s austerity. It is in this regard that the frame  so aptly reflects  the director’s own style.

Romanticism Redux

The August 2012 edition of W Magazine features apparel designer Haider Ackermann. His own antique spectacles are evocative of a more romantic epoch.  Sometimes a subtle expression makes a larger impression than a brash statement, such as the thick acetate frames which dominate the market at the moment.  My own vintage Oliver Peoples frame is shown here with an image of the designer and actress Tilda Swinton by photographer Solve Sundsbo.

Frames of like virtue, which are currently available at our stores, are depicted below. Shown are styles produced by Oliver Peoples, Lunor and Anne et Valentin.

What Mrs. J.  really appreciated was any charming depiction of a lobster, and especially it’s use as a decorative motif in jewelry. Had this phone been at her disposal, you bet she’d have been on it!
