Josephson Opticians Logo

Josephson Opticians has recently curated  an inspiring assortment of new releases from the workshop of Parisian eyewear designer Francis Klein.  Adorned with faux jewels emulating gems of all sorts, these unique hand crafted objects are sure to delight and dazzle!

If bling is your thing, these rare pieces are intentionally conspicuous yet tasteful.

The eccentricity of  Francis Klein’s spectacles brought to mind the illustrations of Romain de Tirtoff, the  Russian-born French artist known by the pseudonym Erté, who was the greatest influence of the Art Deco design movement.

Both Erté’s and Klein’s creations celebrate  feminine sophistication  and lavish adornment.

These marvelous accessories are currently available at our Flagship location.

Soft shapes, such as ovals and the like, were reintroduced to many collections showcased at the SILMO World Optical Fair.  Smooth looking  and sophisticated, the  oval appears flattering on many faces.

Any point of an oval belongs to an arc with a constant radius whereas in an ellipse the radius is continuously changing. This shapes’ characteristic eccentricity makes it a welcome alternative to harder edged forms.

A bold presentation from Francis Klein

Ellipses are common in physics, astronomy and engineering. For example, the orbit of each planet in the solar system is approximately an ellipse. These shapes are naturally suited to frame one’s eyes!

Elegant in their simplicity, these soft, symmetric forms can be appreciated at Josephson locations throughout Toronto.

The self-assurance  and ease of being expressed by tattoo artist Cindy Ray in the image above is as inspiring as her eccentric choice of eyewear.  To ladies eager to project  a similar air of irreverence we can offer a bounty of  flirtatious  frame options.

The designers at Linda Farrow ,in collaboration with England`s lingerie institution Agent Provocateur, have created scalloped and studded styles which suggest confidence and sensuality.

The daughters and wife of Parisian  eyewear craftsman Francis Klein continue to inspire feminine creations which are entirely hand-made and decorated in France.

Fine layers of fabrics laminated within acetate and whimsical embellishments are quintessential features of  this delightful collection.

Birds Of A Feather

29 Jun

This weekend in Toronto a critical mass of the G.B.L.T. community will flock together to express their resolve and assert their solidarity.  The annual Pride festivities  will showcase gender diversity and facilitate uninhibited self expression.

Before strutting like a peacock, consider dawning some ‘gay’ apparel -especially  eyewear as worthy of exposure as you are!
